Produced and Presented by Lopsided Arts & Emma Bentley
The Supermodel In The Caff
December 2025
Nessa’s drinking a cuppa she probably can't afford.
ding-a-ling — someone walks into the caff. (That’s caff, not café.)
Wait, isn’t that...?
Emma Bentley’s latest solo show cracks open the heads of four women, wanting and questioning, whose search for comfort leads them to the fried embrace of the greasy spoon.
Take a seat in the world of tea in white mugs and having a cheeky Kit Kat for breakfast pudding. This is the place you can show up how you like, whether that’s in your scruffiest hoodie or your Fred Perry queer armour.
After a critically-acclaimed run at The Hope Theatre this October, this "captivating" production directed by Moses Gale is back for seconds, giving you a chance to people-watch from the best seat in the caff.
Come for the fry up. Stay for the gossip.
★★★★ “absorbing and entertaining” (Everything Theatre)
★★★★ “a finely crafted piece of storytelling” (Reviews Hub)

Note from the writer/performer:
Hello! Thanks for checking out my show. As it's Christmas, I wondered if you might consider donating to charity that are very close to my heart; Cardboard Citizens. I became a member in the second half of this year as someone who has experienced housing insecurity and poverty, and they do the most fantastic work. At the moment they have the Big Give Campaign live until the 9th Demember and so if you can donate anything from £1 to £100, everything will be very much appreicated and indeed matched! Citz give artists like me a space to turn up truly as ourselves, create, and thrive.
Please consider a donation to Cardboard Citizens – matched pound for pound, for one week only!
For over 30 years, Cardboard Citizens has used theatre to help people facing homelessness build confidence, find belonging, and reclaim their stories.
We are proud to support Cardboard Citizens’ Big Give Christmas Challenge campaign. For one week only, 2-9 December, donations made to Cardboard Citizens via this page will be doubled: https://donate.biggive.org/campaign/a05WS000006Ur8HYAS
Thank you for any contribution you feel able to make, from just £1.
