Applications for Theatre In The Pound are Open! 

Theatre in the Pound is a not-for-profit scratch night, designed for individuals or groups of performers to try out or showcase 10-15 minutes of new work. 

In the auditorium at 7:00 pm on the third Monday of every month.

For artists, an accessible and affordable way to try out new work on stage with full support from our backstage and tech crew.

For audiences, a cheap and fun night out, seeing new work and sharing thoughts directly with the performers.
 

Tickets: £1
These can only be purchased from the bar on the night. Cash or card is fine.

INFORMATION FOR ARTISTS & COMPANIES

Fee for the artist is only £20 per performance. Cheapest theatre hire in town! We also charge a £40 deposit - which will be refunded on the performance day. This is to ensure we have a limited drop-out rate.

Your slot includes full technical and backstage support with a stage manager and a technician. (Fees go a small way towards supporting our staff, but the scratch night is heavily subsidised.)

Theatre In The Pound is part of our Theatre Maker programme, so by participating, you become eligible for 15% off studio hires as well as further possible opportunities to present your work.

We love seeing stuff at all stages of development, including readings or improvised seeds of ideas. We love stuff that works and also stuff that doesn't. Each piece is followed by a short feedback discussion with our lovely audience, to help companies develop their work.

We have hosted new writing, monologues, large groups, physical theatre, dance, comedy, performance art, movement... We love to make the shows as varied as possible, so however 'out there' or unusual you think your work might be, we'd love to meet you!
