Burning Coal Theatre Company

Burning Coal Theatre Company is an award-winning theatre from Raleigh, North Carolina and was founded by Artistic Director Jerome Davis and Managing Director Simmie Kastner.

Its 2014 production at the Cockpit of David Edgar's sprawling, three-play Iron Curtain Trilogy received a 4-star review from Michael Billington in the Guardian.  Its 2016 production of Dark Vanilla Jungle by Phillip Ridley played at The Cockpit and received an exceptionally strong critical response.

"We emphasise works that are experienced viscerally, unlike more traditional, linear plays where audiences are most often asked to observe without participating. Using the best local, national and international artists available, we produce explosive re-examinations of overlooked classics, modern classics, and new plays that address ideas important to our community. With this in mind, we strive to achieve high-energy performances with minimalist production values."  - Jerome Davis
