Experts are warning that we could be on the cusp of another January 6th moment – an authoritarian attempt by Donald Trump to discredit, suppress, or nullify midterm election results on the 3rd of November.
It is set to be a historic inflection point. Democrats could win Congress and gain new powers to challenge Trump, or we could witness the solidification of the new Trumpian order and the demise of the American republic.
We’ve dedicated our next evening slot at The Cockpit – 9th November – to assessing the fallout of this seismic moment for America and the world. In our usual open discussion format, we’ll bring together expert voices just after America’s polling day for a broad discussion about the future of democracy in the United States.
Joining us (Hardeep and Peter) is Heidi Siegmund Cuda, an award-winning investigative journalist and author who reports from the US for Byline Times about authoritarianism, oligarchy, disinformation, foreign interference and far-right networks.
