Borderline, the satire of the Calais Jungle.

It all began ten years ago with an ensemble of thirteen performers aged 16 to 45, seven of whom had just arrived in the UK after spending several months in Calais.

Why a comedy?
"I had enough sadness, making people laugh makes me feel better." Enayat, 16y Afghanistan.
We wanted to raise awareness, but in a way that felt empowering.

For Refugee Week 2026, after many, many shows, and ten years of life unfolding, we are gathering again for a one-night anniversary celebration: marking ten years since the dismantlement of the Calais Jungle — and the birth of Borderline.

What began as an urgent need for laughter, rebellion, and community, has grown into an internationally touring show, and a wide, lasting family of people now living across the world, each carrying a different chapter of the story.

This anniversary evening will bring together favourite scenes from the original production with new pieces created for the occasion, shaped by what  moves us in the world right now and by what came after for us : raising children in the UK, building new lives, and sometimes, finally, returning home. We are more settled now, but we don’t forget the journey we’ve been through, nor those still searching for safety.

The show will be followed by a Q&A. As always with Borderline, we want to hear about your journey as well. How have you been?

The night will also include a digital photo exhibition featuring José Farinha's powerful images of our journey (thousands captured over the years in the UK and abroad, on tour), but also delicious homemade food cooked by a top chef from our comunity and... live music in the foyer!

Hope to see you there x
