ENTROPIA
By Andreas Balaouras

Maria Callas, Frida Kahlo, Isadora Duncan: Three women, three eras, three lives full of passions, loves, disappointments and triumphs. Their archetypal symbols create a triangle who’s each side represents a different art and a new approach within it.

Entropia is not a biographical narrative, but an art performance that highlights the essence of their characters and the cracks that sealed their artistic and personal identity.
Their mothers played a decisive role in their formation, since the first experiences and emotional bonds of childhood influenced their major choices and path. On the other hand, Isadora, Frida and Maria, speak in monologue about their experiences of the male figure in their lives, the experience of motherhood and their fate in their art.

“I love clouds. Because they don’t have to run, to hide. They fly freely. And if they get tired of this sky, they look for another. And they change shapes, and they wrinkle. They don’t hurt. They fly!” Frida Kahlo in Entropia

Director's Note

In Entropia we are concerned with the decisive role of the mother in shaping a person's emotional identity and choices. The heroines' mothers function as a common code of upbringing, influencing their subsequent relationships, desires and strategic explanations through parental imitation. By highlighting moments from the artists' lives - which correspond to timeless social stereotypes - the performance illuminates how wounded children become trapped in adult life in predetermined patterns of behaviour. The stage objects are transformed into a dialogue with the heroines, while the surreal text highlights timeless issues that permeate our generation.
