HEMHÂL THEATRE WEEK by GIGUE PRODUCTION
Three powerful stories from today’s Turkey — on one London stage.
Gigue Production proudly brings Hemhâl Theatre Week to The Cockpit — taking place from 5 to 11 January 2026 — a celebration of contemporary Turkish theatre and storytelling through three acclaimed and award-winning productions by Tiyatro Hemhâl, one of Turkey’s most respected independent theatre collectives.
Known for their poetic language, raw honesty, and deeply human performances, Hemhâl’s work explores the tension between personal freedom, identity, and love — blending devised theatre, literature, and physical expression in striking, minimalist form.
This special London showcase features three remarkable stories:
The internationally awarded solo performance Dirmit (Sevgili Arsız Ölüm: Dirmit),
The critically praised What Will Become of Yusuf Umut? (N’olcak Bu Yusuf Umut’un Hali?),
and Hemhâl’s newest production, Begin With the One You Love (En Sevdiğinden Başla) — a fresh, devised exploration of love, creation, and the boundaries between two artists’ lives and their art.
