Why do so many voices sound the same? How can we make actors and singers actually sound as different and as human as they are? Let's go beyond technical perfection, autotune, and generic musical theatre conventions to discover your unique vocal signature.

Course description
Super Connected Voice explores authentic vocal expression for actors, singers, and theatre makers.

This dynamic workshop focuses on:

  • honing techniques
  • sharing works-in-progresss
  • receiving constructive feedback
  • cultivating raw authenticity in performance.

Led by Tim Arnold, participants learn to transcend mere technical skill and instead engage audiences through genuine connection to character and narrative.

Who could benefit from this course?
This course is ideal for anyone looking to:

  • Refine vocal abilities
  • Deepen the capacity to connect 'story to sound'
  • Engage in acting, singing, and public speaking

Whether you're a seasoned performer or just starting your artistic journey, this course provides a supportive environment for exploration and growth.

How does it work?
Morning Session:

  • Short lecture by Tim Arnold on the value of sound
  • Interactive sharing of works-in-progress

Afternoon Session:

  • Feedback discussions focused on uncovering raw authenticity
  • Collaborative exploration to embrace imperfections

Bring a song, a monologue, or poem you'd like to work with, up to 5 minutes in length. This could be an audition piece, something you're rehearsing, something you've written, or something just for fun. It does not need to be memorised.

Or just bring yourself! The interactive sharing is optional, and you can learn by observing if you choose.

What do you gain?
With this course, you'll deepen your capacity to authentically connect story to sound, enriching communication skills across acting, singing, and public speaking domains.

The morning session equips you with an array of techniques to enrich your vocal repertoire, while the afternoon session empowers you to channel these skills into the creation of compelling performance pieces. Throughout the day, we'll explore Tim Arnold's concept of Super Connected Voice, aiming not only for technical proficiency but also for a deep connection with the story we tell and the characters we portray, ensuring that our audience is drawn not merely to the quality of our singing but to the emotional resonance of our performance.
