FAME AND RAPTURE
by Katherine Hayes

Katherine Mansfield is expecting Virginia Woolf for tea.

Virginia Woolf wants to talk to Katherine Mansfield about creativity - but the two women don't know each other very well and are pushed into an unwanted rivalry. Virginia is in the earlier days of her career but of the establishment, Katherine is established in her career but an outsider from 'the colonies'.

Set in December 1917, as war rages across Europe and Africa, this piece sees an exploration of friendship, creativity, and a determination to pursue something bigger than the human self. This is the beginning of the end for one of the greatest literary modernists, and the beginning of a step change for one of English Literature and feminism's greatest thinkers.
