Cordelia O’Neill's Offies Award-winning play Anything Is Possible If You Think About It Hard Enough returns in a new production at The Cockpit for three nights only. A surprisingly funny, fragile and deeply human two-hander about Alex and Rupert, who fall in love, build a life together, and what happens to them and their relationship after stillbirth. But even in Alex and Rupert's darkest moments, humour is never abandoned. The play was created alongside charities to open conversation around stillbirth; a topic people rarely talk about.
“Keeps us laughing every step of the way, until suddenly the unthinkable happens.”
The Guardian
“[An] extraordinary play… it transforms from rom-com into something profoundly affecting: a gut-wrenching examination of the aftershock of a still-born baby on a new couple… a major new play… theatrically spellbinding yet achingly humane… Approach with caution, but go. Just go.”
WhatsOnStage
"The old ones are the best, so they say. And it’s true: all art, and drama in particular, needs to show us familiar, relatable things before surprising us by reflecting them in a new light. This excellent relationship play is a perfect example of an instantly recognisable situation played out with real theatrical expertise... Cordelia O'Neill's script brims with insight, compassion, and a lot of laughs, even during Alex and Rupert’s darkest hours. She’s created a thoroughly believable relationship with two rounded characters, both of whom are a mix of numerous conflicting and contrasting traits... superb."
