Who could benefit from this course?
This course is suitable for actors and theatre-makers in general, especially those interested in physical, devised and contemporary practices. It's also a great opportunity for those considering that a bit of training would help dust off the cobwebs, or those looking for a little push to create material for future performances
How does it work?
This course offers you the opportunity to explore the performer's craft as a powerful source for physical and devised work. During six weekly sessions, you will enhance your acting skills, stimulate your creativity, and generate performance material. At the end of the course, you will share some of your work-in-progress at our monthly scratch night Theatre in the Pound.
Participants will encounter a progressive combination of training and creative activities.
During the sessions, you may expect to work on:
- Psychophysical preparation/practice
- Physical theatre elements
- Movement & composition
- Creative research, improvisation & devising (through both collective and individual work)
- Dramaturgies: the space, the performer, the text, the scene.
This course takes place in person, at The Cockpit in Studio 1 (upstairs). Only 10 places are available.
What do you gain?
- Experimental techniques that will enhance your work as an actor and increase your confidence in creating, developing, and structuring new work.
- Explore your creative interests and generate material that can be the beginning of your next show.
- Meet new collaborators and actors/makers that may share common creative interests.
- Present your work at our monthly scratch night 'Theatre in the Pound'.
