Monthly Scratch Nights

Produced and presented by The Cockpit as part of Theatre Maker

THEATRE IN THE POUND

16 February, 7:00 pm

A not-for-profit scratch night, designed for individuals or groups of performers to try out or showcase 10-15 minutes of new work at The Cockpit.

CRUSHIN By Abiola Beckles
A poetic, music-infused monologue following Ebony, a young woman confronting love, insecurity, and faith over the course of a single day. Blending humour and vulnerability, the play explores heartbreak, healing, and the voices we carry, confronting the weight of old wounds and choosing hope over haunting.

MUSE By Millie Small
“I think all a muse has ever wanted is to feel seen.”
Lucas, an artist, meets Lilith at a gallery and recruits her to be his next muse.
But as time passes, Lilith’s intuition gets stronger – something isn’t right. All she wants is to look at Lucas's paintings and see the woman that she is, not the version he wants her to be through the eyes of the ‘male gaze’."

Director - Martha Bone
Lilith - Millie Small
Lucas - tbc

CLOSURE CABARET By Maria Ansdell
A solo clown show led by ever-optimistic emcee Razmatastic (Maria Ansdell’s French-accented alter ego). In a glittering cabaret of heartbreak, she resurrects a lifetime of exes – from playground pirates to swaggering cowboys and pompous poets – for their final bow. Blending character comedy, music, and audience play, this vaudevillian spoof is part parody, part emotional exorcism, and a high-energy search for closure.
Co-producer, set design - Tom Germain-Pendry
Director - Emma Webb

TOO OLD FOR TEDDY BEARS By Kieran Carr
Hi guys!
Kieran has been working very hard on this show. We think it's quite good - it's basically him just talking about all the general things: Dating, Spanish Exams, and Jesus.
We're super proud of him and hope you'll come and support him.
All the best,
Kieran's friends :)
