The World of Ealing Comedies
Produced and presented by Drama Studio London
Drama Studio London presents the BA (Hons) in Professional Acting graduating year students for 2026 in original devised work inspired by The World of Ealing Comedies.
Step into the socially satirical, darkly comic world of Britain’s post-war years with new performance work inspired by the hallmark comedies that emerged from Ealing Studios in the Golden Age of British Cinema.
These devised projects dive into the world of the Ealing Comedy tradition, with each company of actors taking inspiration from some of the studio's best-known feature films. Expect flashes of Kind Hearts and Coronets and The Man in the White Suit alongside lesser-known gems like Dance Hall.
In collaboration with directors Tramaine Trace (directorial credits include work for Soho Theatre and Theatre 503), Josie Daxter (Complicité and The Pappy Show), Eric Mallett (Complicité) and Sarah Dowling (Punchdrunk), these companies craft a quartet of performances that blend movement, narrative, character work and stagecraft, with two ensembles performing at each show.
Each piece contributes to Ealing’s rich cultural history, a legacy which DSL students are part of through their geographic proximity to these iconic studios.
Please ensure you arrive at least 30 minutes before showtime. The Cockpit Bar will open 1 hour before showtime.
Please note that no latecomers will be admitted.
