MANDY ROMERO

Mandy Romero is a transgender artist, a created identity but not a conventional alter ego. She has produced films, writing and has performed in plays and cabaret but her main performance focus is on Live Art actions and interactions, which she has carried out in places as diverse as Barcelona, Shanghai, Copenhagen and the Pearl River Delta.

She is based in Liverpool and has had a long association with the Bluecoat Arts Centre there, producing many of her artworks for them, as well as taking on the mantle of Queen of Culture for the Liverpool ’08 Capital Of Culture celebrations.
More recently she crossed Central Asia for a performance project which resulted in a photo-exhibition for Homotopia and has concentrated on cabaret appearances and writing as well as creating an archive of her trans experience on her website TReasured – A Living Encyclopaedia of Trans Experience

For Re-Enchant, she will be offering selected readings from her trans-gender epic The Mandayana preceded by a provocative deconstruction of T.S. Eliot's The Waste Land.

The world changes: we make new poetry to vandalise literary forms or retrieve those we need to renew.  We make new poetry to hybridise new species of understanding and reframe consciousness.

We make new poetry to have a good time.

Readings, recitations, incantations and events from established and upstart poets, word artists, ranters, spell-casters, rappers......and you if you want.
