Biscuit of Destiny

**** British Theatre Guide

Produced and presented by John Hegley

John Hegley returns with a celebratory jamboree chock-full of daft and deft wordplay, sing-along numbers and against all advice, a selection of 'drawings' and other curiosities. Gape in baffled exhilaration as the much loved bespectacled poet lays out a treasury of new and selected potatoes for your enjoyment, drawing on his recently published book 'A Scarcity of Biscuit'. The collection weaves gentle fictions and fanciful meanderings around the letters of Romantic poet John Keats...

“Keats features quite strongly in the narrative of this show, and it is from him that the biscuit reference comes: he met a woman in Ireland being transported in some kind of kennel who the poet said seemed to be suffering from a “scarcity of biscuit”.
There are several of Hegley's distinctive drawings on slides in the show, including seven elephants, three of which we had to vote on later.
It's a lovely hour of stories, music, poetry and silliness”
